Nepalese Teachers Conclude Nationwide Strike After Reaching Agreement with Government

In April 2025, Nepal witnessed a nationwide strike by public school teachers protesting the proposed School Education Bill. The teachers demanded job security, equal pay, and inclusion in social security schemes. After weeks of demonstrations and negotiations, the strike concluded with a nine-point agreement ensuring job security and commitments to pass the bill promptly. This development underscores the importance of dialogue between educators and policymakers in shaping educational reforms.
