How Students Can Find Part-Time Jobs in Latvia

Many students in Latvia ask the same practical question: how can I find a part-time job while studying? The good news is that Latvia offers many student-friendly opportunities, especially in cities such as Riga, Jelgava, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Valmiera, and other active student areas.

For international students, the first step is to understand the work rules connected to their study level and residence status. Students should also ask their university support office before accepting a job, especially if they are unsure about working hours, contracts, taxes, or language requirements.

One of the easiest ways to begin is through university career services. The University of Latvia is located in Riga, where students may find part-time work in administration, tutoring, customer service, cafés, retail stores, and office support. Students should follow university announcements, student boards, and local employer events.

Riga Technical University students may have good opportunities in technology support, logistics, engineering assistance, IT helpdesk work, online support, and event organization. RTU also has career-related support and vacancy channels where students and graduates can look for internships and jobs.

Riga Stradiņš University students, especially those in health sciences, social sciences, and communication fields, may search for roles in clinics, reception work, translation support, student assistance, research support, cafés, and international student services.

Turība University is known for business, tourism, communication, and management studies. Its students may look for jobs in hotels, travel companies, customer service, sales, marketing assistance, events, and administration. Turība also has a Career Centre that supports career planning and job search.

RISEBA students may find part-time work in media, design, business support, social media, sales, hospitality, and creative projects. A strong portfolio, simple CV, and willingness to help with events can be useful.

Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in Jelgava may be suitable for students looking for work in food services, agriculture-related companies, laboratories, administration, retail, and local business support.

Daugavpils University students can search locally for jobs in education support, shops, cafés, cultural events, customer service, and language-related assistance. Smaller cities can be good for students who build personal connections.

Liepāja University students may find opportunities in tourism, cultural events, creative industries, cafés, retail, and online work. Since Liepāja has an active cultural environment, students should also watch for seasonal event jobs.

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences students in Valmiera may look for roles in communication, tourism, business support, IT assistance, media, and local company projects.

Students should prepare a short CV, visit businesses in person, check local job portals, join student groups, attend career events, and speak with classmates. Many jobs are found through simple networking. Latvian language is helpful, but English may be enough for some international companies, cafés, online support, and tourism-related roles.

The best approach is to start early, stay flexible, and choose work that supports—not harms—academic progress. A part-time job in Latvia can give students income, confidence, local experience, and stronger career skills.
