The Italian government has proposed significant changes to the national education curriculum, aiming to instill patriotism and a stronger sense of national identity among students. The revised curriculum emphasizes Bible studies, Latin, Italian history, music, and art from an early age, replacing the global approach promoted previously.
Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara announced that these reforms, set to take effect from the 2026-2027 academic year, are designed to reinforce traditional values and cultural heritage. However, the opposition has criticized the move, labeling it as outdated and a potential tool for mass control. Critics argue that the reforms may restrict a broader understanding of world history and fail to prepare students for a globalized world.
